Manage supported merchant users, roles, permissions and store information in SellingIt.

Give each user appropriate access

SellingIt supports staff or user records, roles, and permissions. A cashier, manager, owner, or other authorized user should receive access based on the work they need to perform.

Maintain store information centrally

Supported store settings and operational records are available through the web merchant application. Merchants should review user access regularly and remove access when it is no longer required.

Give staff the access their work requires

Staff access should follow responsibility. A cashier, receiving team member and owner may need different parts of the merchant workflow. Start with the minimum supported access required for normal work, then expand it only when a role genuinely needs more capability.

Define responsibilities before assigning access

Write down who records sales, receives purchases, manages products, enters expenses, handles customer credit, reviews reports and approves supported corrections. Clear ownership reduces duplicate entries and makes it easier to investigate a missed step. Software permissions support the process; they do not replace training or supervision.

Avoid shared accounts where individual access is available

Individual access can make supported activity easier to attribute and allows access to be changed when a person’s responsibilities change. Protect credentials, remove access promptly when it is no longer needed and follow the merchant’s security procedures. Exact user, role and history capabilities must be confirmed in the current SellingIt configuration.

Separate routine work from sensitive changes

Price changes, stock adjustments, refunds, expense corrections, customer-credit adjustments and staff administration may require additional review under the business’s own policy. Decide who can perform and verify these actions. Do not assume the software defines an appropriate approval policy for every merchant.

Use a shift handover to preserve context

Record unresolved returns, delivery differences, customer questions and unusual transactions before responsibility moves to another person. A short handover prevents the next shift from treating an unfinished event as a new discrepancy.

Review access as the store changes

Revisit roles when staff join, leave or take on different responsibilities. Confirm access across intended devices and stores, and independently assess password, privacy and security requirements. SellingIt does not claim to provide enterprise identity management or every security control unless explicitly documented.

Use the daily-closing checklist to define the manager’s review, connect staff activity with sales reports, and review the broader retail management workflow.
