An online sale still needs a dependable process after checkout. The retailer must confirm the order, match exact products, protect stock accuracy, pack for the journey, record carrier handover and resolve delivery or return exceptions without relying on memory.
Confirm the order before picking
Check the order state, permitted payment context, customer delivery information and requested products. Do not treat an unconfirmed or failed order as ready merely because it appears in a message or dashboard.
Match exact products and available stock
Verify size, colour, model, pack or other relevant variant and compare the requested quantity with physical availability when uncertain. If stock is offered in-store and online, define when each channel reduces availability and how cancellations restore it. SellingIt does not claim real-time ecommerce or marketplace synchronization unless explicitly documented.
Pick and verify the order
- Use one clear order reference.
- Pick the exact product and quantity.
- Inspect visible condition.
- Keep each order separate while packing.
- Use a second check for valuable or easily confused items.
Pack for the product and journey
Consider weight, dimensions, fragility, movement, moisture, tamper evidence and carrier requirements. Test representative parcels before adopting a method broadly. Before sealing, confirm the products, quantities, documents and permitted customer information.
Verify postage and carrier handover
Measure the completed parcel and check the recipient, service, return address, restrictions and dispatch deadline. Record packing separately from collection or carrier acceptance. Communicate what actually happened without guaranteeing delivery timing outside the merchant’s control.
Prepare for exceptions and returns
Define who handles an incorrect address, unavailable item, damage, split shipment, delay or parcel reported lost. Preserve the original order and document agreed changes. For returns, identify and inspect the item before deciding whether it can re-enter available stock. Follow the returns and exchanges checklist.
