Add or remove GST
Select whether your amount excludes or includes GST, enter the amount, and choose the rate that applies to your transaction. Use a custom rate when needed. The calculator does not determine the correct tax rate or classify your goods.
How the GST calculation works
To add GST, multiply the base amount by the rate divided by 100. Add that tax to the base. To remove GST from an inclusive price, divide the total by 1 plus the rate divided by 100; the difference is the GST amount.
For example, a base of ₹1,000 at 18% gives ₹180 GST and ₹1,180 total. Removing 18% GST from ₹1,180 gives the same ₹1,000 base. Displayed amounts are rounded to two decimal places; invoice rounding may differ.
GST and retail billing in India
Use the result to check an amount before reviewing your India POS, billing and GST-related configuration. This calculator is informational. Verify the tax treatment, rate and rounding applicable to your transaction. It does not calculate cess, determine input tax credits or file returns.
Rate shortcuts are conveniences, not a complete schedule. Consult the GST Council and applicable notifications for current treatment.
